چکیده
Abstract Transmembrane flux measurements are the only practical tools used to evaluate degree of organic fouling and efficiency chemical cleaning ultrafiltration membranes in situ. Tangential pH-streaming potential profiles may become a comprehensive situ method analyse versus membrane damage. A parallel implementation two methods was assist tuning an efficient protocol for 300 kDa polyethersulfone membranes. The were fouled with mixture organics cleaned nitric acid, acetic caustic soda or liquid bleach, each at concentrations 1, 5, 10 mg/L. modified Kolmogorov-Smirnov test divergence datasets clearly indicated 5 mg/L NaOH NaOCl. These findings confirmed by atomic force microscopy surface contouring infrared spectra recording. profiling is easy terms operation maintenance, inexpensive, be conducted Implementation independent tests instrumental validation agent efficiency, optimisation dose pH, assessment complex mixtures. combination transmembrane tangential streaming reduce cost suspend ageing.

influence of chemical-biochemical detergents on recovery of permeate flux in polysulphone membranes used in milk ultrafiltration
probable use of chemical and biochemical detergents to wash polysulphone membranes using in milk ultrafiltration needs a multidisciplinary investigation. by increasing use of these membranes in food processing, washing and recovery of initial permeate flux, in order to use for a longer time from this technology, has much importance. in this research, influence of chemical detergents including e...
متن کاملChemical cleaning of potable water membranes: a review
The literature on chemical cleaning of polymeric hollow fibre ultrafiltration and microfiltration membranes used in the filtration of water for municipal water supply is reviewed. The review considers the chemical cleaning mechanism, and the perceived link between this and membrane fouling by natural organic matter (NOM) – the principal foulant in municipal potable water applications. Existing ...
متن کاملUltrafiltration through Collodion Membranes
It is obvious that the factors considered in this paper render data obtained by ultrafiltration open to criticism unless they are checked by other methods and precautions are taken for the elimination of the vitiating effects which have been described. As regards the mechanism of ultrafiltration, the view of a sieve-like action as most experimental evidence indicates, is adequate, if all the fa...
متن کاملThe optimisation of ultrasonic cleaning procedures for dairy fouled ultrafiltration membranes.
Ultrafiltration (UF) of whey is a major membrane based process in the dairy industry. However, commercialization of this application has been limited by membrane fouling, which has a detrimental influence on the permeation rate. There are a number of different chemical and physical cleaning methods currently used for cleaning a fouled membrane. It has been suggested that the cleaning frequency ...
متن کاملFlux Decline in Ultrafiltration Processes
When a membrane filtration process such as ultrafiltration is used a fluxand yield-decline can be observed. The causes are i) concentration polarization (i.e. accumulation of retained solutes, reversibly and immediately occurring) and ii) fouling phenomena such as adsorption, pore-blocking and deposition of solidified solutes, a long-term, and more or less irreversible process. The result of bo...
